Congrats to Ms. Dixon for passing the bar, the Offenders now have a lawyer.
Congrats to Ms. Floore, she starts a Master's program at NYU in January.
Congrats to Mr. Sulu (George Takei) and Ms. Sheryl Swoops (WNBA MVP) on their recent announcements, I support you fully.  Thank you Stan for reminding me about this...

It took 13 years...and the Gamecock Nation had never done it in front of 110,000 at Neyland Stadium.  There was one of us who had done it before...and who did it again...

Mr. Rice...unbelieveable catches on the day.  I certainly know I cannot jump so high as that my ass is in the face of someone who is at least 6 feet tall, probably 6'5".

After three series on our own 3-yard line, we gave up the safety.  And it may have saved the game for us.

They said they knew it was good when it was kicked.  My face was smashed in the armrest for a while before this kick took place.  There was no way, no way that against the wind...a 49 yard field goal, by us, was impossible...

Not photoshop either:

The Vol Baghead's World Tour...

Explaining this to someone who is not a Gamecock is nearly impossible.  I have been to Neyland twice myself.  I was going insane during this game and with 29 seconds to go I hurt my own knee.  We were playing without three starting WRs by the end of the game.  We will never forget, and it still has not sunk in fully.

Now I look to use this motivation to my advantage.

Has been a while I know, I haven’t even logged in since last post.  Over the last 3 weeks I have made many trips to Columbia and back, as well as working the last week for the U.S. Women’s National Team.

The same lyrics play over and over in my head.  They have been for years now.  Two years to be exact, because that is how long Robbie Williams spent writing the new CD (which came out yesterday, btw).

'Cause I got too much life
Running through my veins
Going to waste

How funny is this, that a former member of some boy band I didn’t know about when they even existed is the main source of my adult inspiration.  Sure there are other things, but Feel makes me…well, feel the best.  I need…no I have to get out of here.  There are only so many romantic/hopeless romantic comedies that I can find to watch, though upon finally seeing When Harry Met Sally last week I certainly saw what everyone was so crazy about.

A couple weeks ago I went and saw Serenity and found out why the television version, which didn’t air its’ full season of episodes, generated an unbelievably strong cult following.  Now I am playing catch-up, trying to not miss the episodes when they come on Sci-Fi on Friday night and anxiously awaiting the Pocket Books series starting early next year.  Joss Whedon is an absolute master, I thought nothing could touch West Wing’s casting, but Whedon dashed the best with ease.  Watching the program you want, depending on the situation, to be every male on the program and want to be with every female of the main cast.

Two new shows of the season have been great to catch, including The War At Home on Fox and How I Met Your Mother on CBS.  Both great premises, though WAH is nothing new per se, but they are doing it better and more hardcore than one would think was expectable.  Now people are complaining that a show, which does actually portray suburban life accurately, is over exaggerating.  Well, guess that works for me since I over exaggerate everything.  My main concern with HIMYM is whether the show will last long enough for the climactic event to occur and if the show is successful, at what point do you allow it to happen?  The cast of this show have done a lot so far to maintain some weak spots in plot.  The night club episode from two weeks ago was hilariously unforgettable.  I have also managed to discover why the sixth season of West Wing, which I just very recently saw for the first time, was so highly criticized by viewers.  Change.

Television, movies, and music.  Blah Blah Blee Bloo Blah.  Hell, I hate baseball and watched five hours of it last night.  Four hours of that was pitching changes, I swear that the next person that tells me soccer is boring is going to be manually removing my foot from their ass.

There is something scientific I can babble on about.  Having enjoyed the five or six Discovery Channel and TLC programs (each at least a couple times) on the subject of Architeuthis, or the giant squid, I was quite excited to wake up one morning a month or so ago and see that someone did finally manage to photograph one in the “wild” for the first time.

I found out today that quite possibly the job of my current realistic dreams (with USC basically going around the country talking with alumni) slipped through my fingers.  There were supposed to be two people for two positions in the second interview, apparently three made it through.  The Director and VP were “really impressed” but in the end “things swung the other way.”  This was tough to take as it was the first internship, scholarship, or job I have interviewed for and not gotten.  This rejection is in some ways a good thing, as it will make me hungrier and more forthcoming for the next interviews.  I did turn down a job offer a few weeks ago, I considered accepting but if I were to do this sort of position I need to take one in the Columbia area.  Unfortunately a recent AIM virus, which was a most incredible virus, led to the loss of some things since middle September.  That includes about 50 cover letters that could have been used to put these puppies out quicker.  No matter, though it will take a few days to get my bearings back.

I must give a shout out to my Star Wars Galaxies server Ahazi.  Though I have long since retired from the Galactic Civil War, it was great to see that a player organized battle spread to the extent that the event got a two page layout complete with timeline in the extremely popular PC Gamer magazine.  A small battle on Deadwood, Tatooine eventually spread to five other cities before spreading to five planets, in all involving over one thousand players over a six hour period as each side strained to protect their cities’ bases.

College football season is going well.  We are on track for our five wins, though we never play well at Arkansas so we will see what happens.  The Vanderbilt game this past weekend was incredible, the crowd atmosphere was great and when Vandy got the ball back near the end the crowd took a stand and didn’t allow it to go any further.  That was the loudest crowd I have heard in a couple years and the sight of the entire student section jumping was wonderful.  Unfortunately, Syvelle Newton who played 3 positions during the game was injured on his last touchdown.  He was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week but he is lost for the next two seasons with a torn achilles.  This type of injury is so bad he is already redshirting for next season.  We have gotten some great commitments this week, both from the state of Florida.  The boys are 3-stars and over 300 pounds with Mr. Young having turned down 32 other scholarship offers.  Mr. Kevin Brown and Mr. Seaver Young, welcome to the Gamecock Nation.

Well I suppose that in a way this was therapeutic.  Though I don’t see hiding the only worthwhile paragraph in the middle, between all the television and entertainment psycho-babble as if it purveys I am dealing with things appropriately.

Sitting here watching my second football game of the night.  Unfortunately Iowa State didn’t cover the spread but it looks like Cal fortunately won’t cover the spread either.  I did really well on my first week of Yahoo College Pick’em (81st place) but have been dropping big time ever since (now in the thousands).

Doesn’t look like I will make it to the Troy game tomorrow as I just don’t feel well enough for the drive and all that standing.  Even with Vanderbilt’s success I am going to stand with my 5 win prediction for the Cocks, though that looks far less likely.  I really hope Vandy gets their six wins as I would love to go and support them at their bowl game.  The ‘Bama game was one of those losses that you have to be there for, it was very reminiscent of the N.C. State ’99 game.

I almost always get depressed for a short while around my birthday (which is why I never mention it), but my friends and family did a wonderful job in making it a special one.  So many people sent wishes through Facebook and I am very thankful and appreciative for them, they all brought a big smile to my face.  Here are some gifts I got…

My sister is the greatest:

And my best friend is the greatest: (so uber)

Overheard in the 3 hour long UCF student ticket line:
First guy: "Why the fuck is this line so long?"
Second guy: "What are you, a bitch? We got Spurrier!"

For certain, it was a sobering moment. Hurricane victims were fighting for their lives in New Orleans, and the first game of the Steve Spurrier era at South Carolina began with a prayer for the survivors. It continued with -- I kid you not -- a blessing for Darth Visor's first season in Columbia.
God, country, Spurrier.
Like there were ever any question.

Spent a lot of time today going through employment databases and working on cover letters.  I will update soon, but got a lot going on right now.  I developed Shingles last week while getting over the sinus related virus that has been going around (I believe it was a combination of a weakened immune system and stress that caused it).  Since I went to Columbia, I didn't know what it was and I completely missed the treatment period.  I am taking the anti-viral medication now anyways, but it is a toss-up whether I develop postherpetic neuralgia.  Not a big deal overall as I don't feel too bad, but I am trying to rest and stay away from babies and the elderly.  Maybe I can make it to the Troy game...
